The project ‘Strategic Intelligence for Research and Innovation’ (STRATIN+) will provide strategic intelligence services to public administrations and research organisations for the implementation of research, development and innovation (R&D&I) policy for six years. The project will contribute to the effective coordination and interlinking of existing analytical capacities, to directing their activities towards the current and future needs of strategic decision-making in R&D&I policy and to the systematic use of expert analytical and strategic input by the public administration responsible for the development and implementation of research and innovation policy in the Czech Republic.
The subject of strategic intelligence activities is the systematic analysis and evaluation of the determinants of the development of the national research and innovation system, evaluation of the impact of R&D&I policy, identification and evaluation of trends and opportunities for R&D&I (foresight), as well as assessment of the impact of new technologies on society (technology assessment). Attention is also paid to the training of R&D&I professionals, research mobility and the cross-cutting areas of gender equality in R&D&I and open science. The focus of the project also creates conditions for open, expert and independent discussion on current research and innovation policy issues and knowledge sharing between different actors in the R&D&I system. The project will provide continuous systematic support to public administration, research organisations and other research-oriented entities in the Czech Republic in obtaining strategic information for R&D&I development.

The key outcome of the project is the systematic use of strategic intelligence capabilities for the purpose of making informed decisions on R&D&I support from public funds in the Czech Republic. The aim of the shared activities project is to provide timely, objective, relevant and analytically sound information for strategic decision-making in R&D&I. The aim is to strengthen the capacities of strategic intelligence for R&D&I in the Czech Republic, to effectively coordinate or link analytical activities and to streamline the systematic use of strategic intelligence capacities in the implementation of R&D&I policy in the Czech Republic. The project has a highly integrative character, which seeks to link existing analytical capacities in the field of R&D&I distributed in different departments and research organisations. At the same time, it creates conditions for direct targeting of analytical activities to the needs of public administration bodies responsible for R&D&I policy development and implementation.
