The analysis focuses on the mobility of researchers from non-EU countries to the Czech Republic and reveals a fundamental paradox: while the Czech Republic strives to attract international talent, these experts face significant administrative obstacles, language barriers and overall uncertainty.
The EURAXESS organisation plays a key role in overcoming these barriers by providing comprehensive and free support – from assistance with residence applications to practical assistance in dealing with the authorities. Thanks to its systematic work, the process is being simplified and streamlined, as confirmed by the growing number of researchers using specialised residence permits.

Data from 2024 show specific results and trends. A total of 675 scientists from 71 countries around the world came to the Czech Republic, with the demographic profile consisting mainly of young men (aged 30-39) from India, who most often go to Charles University and the institutes of the Academy of Sciences. However, the most important finding is the shift from temporary work mobility to long-term migration.
